Popcorn Ceiling

The Popcorn Ceiling Problem
Textured "popcorn" or "cottage cheese" ceilings were standard in American homes and apartments from the 1950s through the late 1980s. They were cheap, hid imperfections, and absorbed sound. They also, very often, contained asbestos.
The EPA did not restrict asbestos in ceiling textures until 1978 — and even after that, existing stockpiles continued to get installed into the mid-1980s. If your ceiling was sprayed before 1990, do not scrape it yourself. Call us first.
Our Process

Test First
We take a small sample and send it to ALLAB. Results come back in a few days. If it is clean, you can scrape it yourself safely. If not, we handle it.

Protect the Space
Furniture is covered, floors are sealed, HVAC is shut down, and plastic containment is built around the ceiling.
- 03
Wet Scrape
The ceiling is misted with water to suppress fiber release, then scraped by hand. Nothing goes airborne.

Bag & Seal
All debris is bagged in asbestos-rated waste containers and hauled to an approved disposal facility.

HEPA Clean & Clear
The entire room is HEPA-vacuumed, wipe-cleaned, and air-tested before we release it back to you.
What You Get After

Most single-room popcorn ceiling jobs are finished in 2–3 days. Larger apartments and whole-house jobs take 4–5. Every single one includes third-party air clearance testing and a full documentation packet.
