Lead Paint
Removal.

Lead paint is a serious hazard in any building painted before 1978 — especially with children in the home. We remove it under full containment, following EPA RRP and state lead abatement protocols.

Why Lead Paint Still Matters

Lead paint was banned for residential use in 1978, but most homes and apartment buildings built before that still have layers of it under newer paint — on window trim, doors, baseboards, and siding. As that paint ages, cracks, and chips, lead dust settles into carpets, floors, and soil around the building.

Lead exposure is especially dangerous for children, who can suffer permanent developmental damage from even low levels in their blood. For renovations, resale, or compliance with HUD and state rental requirements, lead abatement is essential.

Licensed Lead Abatement

We hold the same licensing for lead work that we hold for asbestos — because in New York, both are regulated together. That means every lead project we take on follows strict federal EPA RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) rules and state lead abatement standards.

Our Methods

  • Chemical Stripping

For detail work and trim, we use EPA-approved chemical strippers that lift paint without creating dust.

  • Wet Scraping

For larger flat surfaces, we wet-scrape to suppress dust and capture debris in sealed poly sheeting.

  • Component Replacement

Sometimes it is safer and more cost-effective to replace the painted component entirely — old windows, doors, or trim.

  • Encapsulation

For intact surfaces, a heavy-duty encapsulating coating can seal lead paint permanently in place.

  • Enclosure

Covering a lead-painted surface with new drywall, paneling, or siding creates a long-term barrier without full removal.

Documentation & Clearance

Every lead project includes before and after testing, full documentation, and a final clearance report you can hand to HUD, DEP, your insurance company, or a future buyer.
