02 / The Story
Two
generations.
One
standard.
Julio Lopez has been in the asbestos trade for over 35 years. He learned it the hard way — on job sites in the 1980s, back when the industry was still writing the rulebook on safety.
In the months after September 11, 2001, Julio was part of the cleanup crew at Ground Zero. It's not something he talks about often. But it shaped how he thinks about this work: careful, thorough, and always taking the risk seriously — because the people who do this job, and the people who live in the buildings we work on, deserve nothing less.
In 2022, his son Ethan joined him and they founded Exal Environmental together. Four years in, they're still running every job the way Julio always has — with full containment, proper PPE, third-party air monitoring, and a written clearance report at the end of every project.
Family owned. Father-son operated. No shortcuts. Ever.
03 / How It Works
From first call
to final clearance.
Free On-Site Estimate
We come to you — no virtual estimates, no guessing. We inspect the work area in person, identify suspected materials, and give you a clear written quote.
Third-Party Testing
If testing is needed, we coordinate with a certified independent air monitor. All lab work is processed through ALLAB, one of the most trusted labs in the region.
Permits & Notifications
We handle all required state and local notifications before work begins. No surprises, no delays.
Full Containment Setup
Before removal starts, we build a full containment enclosure with HEPA-filtered negative air, sealed poly, decon chambers, and full PPE for the entire crew.
Safe Removal & Disposal
Materials are wetted, bagged, and double-sealed. Waste goes out in licensed asbestos containers via Codi Transport to an EPA-approved disposal facility.
Air Clearance & Documentation
Final air clearance testing confirms the area is safe. You receive a complete documentation packet with all test results, manifests, and clearance reports.
