24/7 EMERGENCY RESPONSE (201) 294-7228

Questions,
answered.

The things people always ask us — about licensing, pricing, timing, and what to expect.

01

Are you fully licensed and insured?

+
Yes. We are licensed for asbestos and lead abatement work in New York, and we carry both general liability insurance and workers compensation. License numbers and certificates of insurance are available on request.
02

Do you do free estimates?

+
Yes — every estimate is free, on-site, and in writing. We do not charge for quotes, and there is no obligation. We will come to your property, walk the space, and give you a clear written quote before any work is agreed to.
03

How much does asbestos removal cost?

+
Most asbestos jobs fall in the range of $11 to $15 per square foot. Final pricing depends on the type of material, the size of the work area, access and obstructions, disposal logistics, and whether third-party testing is required. Your written estimate will list every line item.
04

How long does a typical project take?

+
Most residential asbestos projects are completed in 3 to 5 days from start to final clearance. Smaller single-room jobs can be done faster. Larger commercial or industrial projects are quoted individually.
05

Do I need to leave my home during the work?

+
Usually yes — for the areas where work is happening. We set up full containment to keep fibers from spreading beyond the work zone, but most clients prefer to stay out of the affected rooms for comfort and peace of mind. We will discuss the specifics during the on-site estimate.
06

How do I know if my home has asbestos?

+
You cannot tell by looking. The only way to know for sure is to have materials tested at a certified lab. If your building was constructed before 1990, there is a real chance it contains asbestos in pipe insulation, floor tiles, popcorn ceilings, vermiculite, or other common materials. We offer testing as part of our services.
07

What is the difference between removal and abatement?

+
Removal means physically taking the asbestos-containing material off the property. Abatement is a broader term — it includes removal, but also encapsulation (sealing material in place) and enclosure (building a permanent barrier around it). The right approach depends on the condition of the material, your budget, and your long-term plans for the building.
08

Do you handle lead paint too?

+
Yes. We hold the same regulatory licensing for lead work that we hold for asbestos, and we follow EPA RRP protocols and state lead abatement rules on every lead project.
09

What about mold?

+
We focus on asbestos and lead. For mold remediation, we recommend working with a specialist in that field. We can make referrals.
10

Do you offer emergency response?

+
Yes — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have a water event that damaged asbestos materials, an accidental disturbance by a contractor, or a fire that exposed pipe insulation, call us any time at (201) 294-7228.
11

What areas do you serve?

+
All of New York — the five boroughs of NYC (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island), Westchester County, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley. We will travel further for the right project — just ask.
12

Who does your air monitoring?

+
We always use independent third-party air monitors — not employees of Exal. This keeps the clearance testing unbiased and gives you documentation you can trust. Lab analysis is handled by ALLAB.
13

Where does the asbestos waste go?

+
All asbestos waste is transported by Codi Transport, a licensed asbestos waste carrier, to an EPA-approved disposal facility. You receive a manifest documenting the full chain of custody.
14

Do you provide written clearance reports?

+
Yes. Every completed project comes with a full documentation packet including bulk sample lab results, air clearance results, disposal manifests, and a project summary. These are the documents you hand to your insurance carrier, DEP, HPD, or a future buyer.
15

Do you work with property managers and general contractors?

+
Yes — those are two of our largest customer groups. We understand how to coordinate with active projects, how to keep tenants informed, and how to hand over documentation that satisfies compliance requirements. We can set up preferred contractor relationships for ongoing work.
16

Is there a minimum job size?

+
No. Whether it is a single closet, a popcorn ceiling in one room, or an entire apartment building, we will quote it. Some smaller jobs we will combine with nearby projects to keep mobilization costs down — we will tell you during the estimate.
17

Do you offer financing?

+
We do not currently offer financing.
18

How far in advance do I need to schedule?

+
For standard projects, we typically schedule 1 to 2 weeks out depending on crew availability. For emergencies, we respond same-day.
