24/7 EMERGENCY RESPONSE (201) 294-7228

Two
generations.
One standard.

A family business, four years old on paper — and 35+ years old in practice.

1989

Julio
Lopez.

Julio has been in the asbestos trade since 1989. He started when the industry was still writing its own safety playbook — before some of the rules we now take for granted were even on the books. He learned by doing, on real job sites, alongside older guys who had been doing the work long before him.

Over three and a half decades, he has worked on everything from small apartment jobs to industrial abatements to emergency cleanups. He has trained dozens of workers. He has testified on inspection reports. He has spent a career earning the trust of property managers, general contractors, and homeowners across the New York metro area.

In the months after September 11, 2001, Julio was part of the cleanup crew at Ground Zero. It is not something he brings up often. But it shaped how he thinks about the work — the risks, the responsibility, the importance of doing the job right even when nobody is watching.

Ethan
Lopez.

Ethan grew up around the trade. He learned it the same way his father did — on real job sites, doing real work, with someone older and more experienced watching every move.

In 2022, Ethan and Julio founded Exal Environmental together. Four years in, they are still running every job the way Julio always has: full containment, proper PPE, third-party air monitoring, and a written clearance report at the end of every project.

Ethan runs the day-to-day of the business. Julio still shows up on most jobs. When you hire Exal, you are hiring both of them — plus a crew trained to the same standard.

What We Stand For

No subcontracting.
No shortcuts.
No exceptions.

Every crew on every Exal job is our own. We do not farm the work out to subcontractors we have never met. The people on your property are the people we trained.

Every job includes a third-party air monitor. Not one of our guys with a clipboard — an independent certified monitor with no financial stake in the outcome. That is the only way to guarantee a clean clearance.

Every project gets written documentation. Bulk sample results, air clearance results, disposal manifests, and a full project report. You keep it for your records, your insurance company, and your next buyer.

And every quote is written down before work begins. No verbal promises. No surprise charges. What we quote is what you pay.
